A BRIEF BACKGROUND OF THE ORGANISATION
Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust (UVCT) is a national level NGO having functional chapters in five states in India and pursuing a mission to strengthen economical and social empowerment of adolescents and young adults (age group 11-25 years) especially those belonging to marginalized sections. UVCT is deeply involved in all aspects relating to development of adolescents - from direct intervention by running programs to highlighting issues at national policy making levels. Programs of the Trust cover (1) Life Skills Education (2) Livelihood Skills (3) Counseling and Career Guidance (4) Financial Support. Dr UNB Rao, PhD, IPS (R) and his wife Smt U Chaya laid the foundations of the organization in 1991 soon after the untimely demise of their only son at a tender age of 20 years. Instead of grieving, Dr & Smt Rao chose to dedicate themselves to the national cause, nay world cause, to reverse the arrow of sorrow.
In recognition, the Government of India has granted all available concessions/benefits as under –
(a) 100% tax exemption, under Sec 35 AC of the Income Tax Act, 1961
(b) Tax exemptions under Section 80G of Income Tax Act 1961.

AVOWED OBJECTIVES OF THE TRUST
* Developing general awareness through seminars, group discussions and camps to help youth find solutions to their problems -- psychological, financial, ethical and social; and to help acquire a realistic value system that is conducive to the development of a healthy society;
* Developing educational and skill training programs for school drop outs, to enable them to become socially and economically productive citizens of the country;
* Developing the concept of oneness of all religions and love for their
homelands in youth, by raising their level of consciousness;
* Developing counseling centers for disturbed youth; and
* Establishing rehabilitation centers for juvenile delinquents to provide both emotional support and skill training.
