Aims and Objectives
  • Aikotaan Kalibari O Sewa Samiti (in short 'Aikotaan') is an apolitical Socio-Cultural Organization registered under section 2 of the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 (Punjab Amendment Act, 1957), as extended to the State of Delhi . The Registered Office of the Society is situated at 281, United Apartments, Plot-34, Sector-4, Dwarka (Phase I), New Delhi – 110 075.
  • The aims and objectives of Aikotaan include undertaking educational, charitable and humanitarian welfare activities organize relief operations amongst people without distinction of caste, creed or religion at the times of natural calamities, etc., spread the ideals of love, renunciation and selfless service and universal brotherhood in accordance with the great spiritual heritage of India.
  • Aikotaan wishes to construct and operate a religio-cultural Complex. This Complex will consist of a religious place that would portray a confluence of different 'Hindu' religious practices apart from setting up a Charitable Dispensary and Health Center, a Center for 'Yoga' (including 'Healing through Yoga'), and a Library with free Reading Room.
  • Aikotaan also organizes and celebrates some of the Bengali festivals namely Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Saraswati Puja, Paila Baishakh and Rabindra Jayanti Aikotaan is currently in its 5th year of organizing and celebrating the Durga Puja. Aikotaan organized and celebrated Delhi 's dream sub-city Dwarka's FIRST Sarbojanin Durga Puja. During the Puja, various activities are organized encouraging and promoting family participation. Activities and Competitions centered on sporting talent, creative performance (dance, drawing, singing, poem recitation, dress designing, etc.) and fun activities (rolling chapattis by males, handi bhanga) are conducted. Evenings are devoted to a bouquet of cultural extravaganza involving the local artistes and artistes of repute from West Bengal . In the year 2004, the South Delhi JPC awarded Aikotaans Durga Pratima a Special Prize.
  • Aikotaan has also been conducting 'Bangla' classes for the persons interested in learning the Bangla language. Children in large numbers are attending these classes. Some of the adults and non-Bengalis are also attending the classes. These classes are conducted Free of Charge.
