2nd Maha Rudram in Dwarka
DWARKALAYA a Socio-Cultural organisation is organising 2nd Maha Rudra Maha Yagnam in DWARKA on Sunday the 28th October 2007. In Maha Rudram is a minimum of 121 Rithwiks Chant Rudram and Chamakam which will be followed by Vasordhara Homam and Poornahuthi with the recital of Chamakam.
DWARKALAYA is the only organisation which has to its credit having organsied this event on a Single day in Delhi, last year the event was organised on 8th October 2007, wherein 184 Rithiwiks participated from all over the Delhi.
Apart from the chanting of Rudram, the main attraction of the function was the distribution of food to the poor to about 3000 persons. This year we propose to increase the number of beneficiaries to 5000.
Apart from this, there is a proposal to distribute SPATIKA MALA (CYSTAL MALA) specially built from RAJASTHAN as PRASAD after keeping it in the PRADHANA KALASH. Ganesh Chaturthi, the fourth day of the Hindu month Bhadrapada is celebrated as the auspicious day when Ganesh was born. The festival is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm by Maharashtrians. Though this festival had largely been a private one, it was in 1894 Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak introduced a new way of celebrating it- as a collective community worship. He called it Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava. The ten day festival begins with installation of beautifully sculpted Ganesh idols in homes and mandaps, colourfully decorated depicting religious themes or current events. The elephant headed God with a trunk has long ears and bulging belly. The mount of Ganesh is a mouse and his favorite sweet is modak. His one hand is raised with a palm in protective gesture and other hand holds tools include a sword, an axe like parashu, or a trident. The installation period could be day and half or five days or till the last day of bright fourteen which is known as Anant Chaturdashi. Many cultural events are organized during these days and then the idol is immersed in the sea, river or lake. Emotions run high as shouts of Ganapati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavakar Ya (Beloved Lord Ganesh, come soon next year.) resound all around.

COLOURS OF INDEPENDENCE
August 15, 2007 was an eventful day in the history of Dwarka. It was on this day that Dwarka and the enthusiasts from adjoining areas participated in the celebration on occasion of 60 years of independence in the Centre Market, Sector-10, Dwarka.
The programme 'Colours of Independence' was organized by Utsavamindia in association with Chhoan, an NGO Axis Bank, Dwarka sponsored the evening that remained us of the simmering resentment and agree against the foreign rule. The bugle of revolt that first revolt in 1857 was brought alive through the ballad 'Mangal Pandey' - staged by the Aries School of Art & Drama. The progrmme also featured 'Vande Matram', sung beautifully, by Shruti Dhasmana.
As the evening progressed, one could see a lot of enthusiasm as children & youth danced to the patriotic songs.
Certificates of participation and gifts were given to each participant by Axis Bank and the organizers. The lucky audience also won lucky draw gifts sponsored by Axis Bank.
India's 60 years of independence was a moment to rejoice in the her achievements and onward march to greater heights of glory & prosperity. Utsavamindia along with Axis Bank succeeded in reviving the spirit of Nationalism amongst the youngsters.
